What is the Junior Highpower Support Program?

The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) provides financial assistance for eligible members of junior highpower rifle teams sponsored by state associations, or CMP clubs that compete in the National Trophy Rifle Matches during the National Matches at Camp Perry.

This program was developed to promote junior participation in the National Matches and to encourage junior competitors to become actively involved in highpower service rifle competition.

Who is eligible to receive assistance from the program?

The state association, club, or team applying for support from the CMP is required to have the following:

• A status of GOOD with the CMP
• Completed a 2026 Club Annual Report (or be a new affiliate) and have paid its yearly annual dues

To participate in the National Matches as a junior competitor, the individual must meet the following eligibility criteria:

• Must be between 12 and 20 years of age by August 1, 2026
• Junior competitors under the age of 14 with previous match experience must apply for an Age Restriction Waiver in accordance with the CMP Competition Rules.

For more than three decades, FNRA has brought together volunteers, donors, and communities with a shared purpose: investing in the future of the shooting sports and preserving our nation's proud traditions of safe, responsible firearms ownership. 

One of the defining characteristics of the Friends of NRA grant program has always been its local impact. 50% of the net proceeds raised through Friends of NRA events remain in the state where it was generated, helping support organizations and programs that directly benefit local communities. The remaining 50% of funds allow us to make investments that strengthen shooting sports programs and educational initiatives nationwide. 

Looking ahead, organizations interested in applying for funding should mark their calendars. The 2027 Friends of NRA grant application period will open August 3rd and will be available at www.friendsofnra.org/grants. Eligible organizations are encouraged to watch for additional announcements and application details in the coming weeks. If your program supports youth education, firearms safety, shooting sports, hunter education, range development, conservation, or other qualifying initiatives, we encourage you to explore the opportunities available through the Friends of NRA grant program. 

Midway USA Foundation

The MidwayUSA Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity working to sustain and grow youth shooting sports by providing long-term funding to youth shooting teams through annual cash grants. Every donation made is tax-deductible and allows the Foundation to assist in expanding and enhancing the leadership skills, confidence, and discipline of today’s youth through shooting sports activities.

We support all shooting disciplines and you can help make an impact by donating to the team endowment, organizational endowment, or special purpose program of your choice. 100% of your donation benefits that endowment and your donation may qualify for a match through our current Matching Program.

Range Development GRANTS

These competitive range development cash grants will provide funds to allow existing ranges to make improvements and expansions.

A fundamental need of a shooting team is a place to shoot. These competitive funds will provide the opportunity for existing ranges to make improvements and expansions to allow for more youth-oriented shooting activities. Team and Agency endowment holders are encouraged to work with their respective shooting range(s) to identify needs and complete grant application requirements.

While the Range Development grants are meant for MidwayUSA Foundation Team and Agency endowment holders, certain non-endowment holding organizations, primarily conservation groups and universities, may apply if they are directly benefiting local youth shooting teams and their associated range development grant will enable more youth to become involved in the youth shooting sports.
